What is on the agenda: chocolate covered Oreos, choc chip cookies, Black-eyed susans, and traditional holiday cut outs (something Chris roommate has been begging me to make) While it sounds like a bit to do, it honestly will only take an hour or two, and then I will reward myself with a nap.. ha ha.. Can you tell this sick girl enjoys her rest!!!
I will be sure to update the blog with photos of our baking fun...
Rolled Sugar Cookie Cut Outs
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
I like to pre-measure all of my ingredients into seperate bowls, I find it easier to just add it as I go!
this is what it looks like when the butter and sugar are creamed together
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on non-greased cookie sheets.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
