Holiday Cookies- PEANUT BLOSSOMS

One of my favorite Holiday Traditions is baking with my mom. This year she traveled to Tallahassee for a two day baking extravaganza. We made dozens and dozens of cookies and sweets for neighbors, family, co-workers and service workers (ie: UPS, Mailman, etc)

Over the next few days I will be sharing the recipes that we used.

PEANUT BLOSSOMS

1 3/4 C. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 C. sugar
1/4 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. shortening
1/2 C. creamy peanut butter
1  egg
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

In large bowl, stir flour, soda & salt together.  Add all remaining ingredients and mix at medium speed.
Chill dough in refrigerator for 30 minutes.  Preheat oven to 375.  Roll small amounts of dough into 1" balls.  (At holiday time at this point roll the balls in colored sugar)  otherwise just place balls on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 12 minutes.  Remove from oven & immediately press hersheys kisses into center.
